Subscription Policy for Members

The annual subscription for the forthcoming season will be set at the AGM. Members are encouraged to pay the annual subscription at the beginning of the autumn term. Subscriptions are payable by the 31 October. Members who expect to attend only one term should pay their subscription at the beginning of the term they are attending. The Treasurer will provide details for paying by bank transfer, which is the preferred method.

All members that are UK taxpayers should complete the Gift Aid form which allows the choir to reclaim tax at no cost to the members.

Penrith Singers believes that singing should be open to all regardless of means. The choir is in the financial position to be able to cover part of/ the whole of a member’s subscription in case of financial difficulty.

A member seeking financial support should approach any of the Committee members in confidence. This can be by e-mail or by other means as suits the individual. If you are unsure whether to apply for the support, the Chair and Treasurer will consider each individual case, but it is more likely that you will be eligible if you are  in receipt of:

-    Means-tested benefits, eg Universal Credit
-    Personal Independence Payment or Employment and Support Allowance
-    Housing benefit

Or are an/a
-    unpaid carer
-    Mature student
-    Single parent

Decision about any reduction in subscription will be made by the Chair and the Treasurer. Details of any concessions will be kept confidential in line with GDPR.
Concessions can be awarded for a single term or for a season. Continuation of any award will be reviewed as the circumstances of the relevant member change.

We also invite members to contribute in excess of the annual subscription to allow us to continue granting reduced subscriptions to those in need.
